Student Level: Intermediate.  The Dog must be a willing swimmer and an attentive worker in a social setting. Canine prerequisite skills include the  ability to retrieve on land. Dogs will progress faster if they understand targeting concepts, or  have participated in a workshop on land Retrieving.

Course Description:  If you want your dog to be able to do more than just chase a stick, this workshop teaches how to get a solid water retrieve with a  variety of articles.  Teams will  start in the water teaching the  single article water retrieve.  Training will include building canine self-control (stay)  and attention inside the starter box while increasing speed out of the box for the article, distraction tolerance during the retrieve and getting that consistent return to hand. Multiple article retrieves and directed retrieves will also be discussed and demonstrated.  And if that isn’t enough retrieve mania, the participants will also be introduced to platform jump work with the goal of obtaining a retrieve from a water platform.
